Any punters here?

Spontaneously placed a $200 bet on a game last night with odds at $1.98. My first time gambling and I got lucky. Should probably stop while I'm ahead.

Anyway, any punters out here? or do you guys frown upon it? biggest wins? biggest losses?

Quit while you're ahead. Beating Vegas is not an easy thing.

Gambling is entertainment. Just like going to the movies or watching a sports event, expect to pay, be entertained, just don't expect to get your money back in the end. That's the way I look at it. I probably gamble $2-$5 per week, on the lottery or maybe a sports bet, knowing full well the chances of winning are slim, but enjoying the thrill of it and the 'what-if?' factor. Don't understand people that go to the casino and drop hundreds in one night, unless of course that is the equivalent of $2 for them and they're just doing the same thing I am.

Walk away if you are smart. I lucked out and somehow won 10k in roulette one night in AC. That was 2-3 yrs ago and the last time I stepped foot in a casino.

I'd say walk away. A couple seasons ago I was placing hundreds of dollars on football games. I did fairly well til the Super Bowl came around. Still came out ahead, but I haven't gone back to wager since. There's quite a rush when you win, and another when you lose. The losing hurts in a way that can't be made up by winning, though. I also love $100 plays on roulette, which is why I won't go to Vegas again. It's cheaper to do almost anything else.

If you enjoy it go ahead, a $200 bet 'costs' as much as a pint and adds a lot of excitement to the match.

I gamble for fun (only on the English Premier League), I ended last season with the same amount I started with. Betting to make money makes no sense, one is better off putting any extra cash aside.

I was down $1,145 before the Cowboys and Packers game, but Romo and crew put me up for the week. Gambling is fun, just don't overdo it. I know guys who have lost houses, cars, body parts, etc. over sports betting. Sports betting is harder to control than table games because you don't physically see the money going away until it's time to settle up.

also, I thought punting meant you were into prostitution?
