How many times does Chester A. Arthur get mentioned on a style forum? Last night I was doing my taxes, watching some biography show on U.S. presidents. What caught my attention is that Chester Arthur was somewhat known as a dandy and the program mentioned and showed a bill from a shopping trip he took to Brooks Brothers sometime in the early 1880's, while he was president. He spent about $750. Adjusted for inflation (depending on method used) equates to just over $13,000. My question is, who made Peal shoes in 1881?
