I'm looking for a good club or two for tomorrow down in the Gaslamp area. Does anyone have recs? Preferably dark inside, with as few douchebags as possible A few tables would be nice too. Thanks!

The Ivy Hotel is pretty nice and they have a club there (envy). It's a bit trendy. The hotel bar is pretty cool to hang out at as well.

It's been a few years, but last time I was there, I stayed at the W and remember they had a fairly happening bar.

Only good one that I know of is the University Club. Not nearly as good as its cousins in other cities.

Wait -- you meant something else ...

Thanks guys, I'm going with a girl who wants to dance I think. I don't actually dance, and tips? I'm planning on getting drunk within 5 minutes or so, and just copying whatever the guy next to me is doing, but with far less rythym LOL. Is the Ivy TOO trendy for jeans and a t-shirt?

That is how all white men "dance."

For more of a divey bar to go to (if you want to venture outside of the touristy downtown places), I used to love going to Bar Dynamite and Nunu's back in my college days.

Haha Bar D and Nunu's.

They're a bit far from each other to be walking. Bar D has dancing, Nunu's is pretty chill though, good place to have a chat with your friends. You aren't going to be impressing any girls by taking them to Bar D, unfortunately. It's a nice place for sure, though.

Whistle Stop and Tower Bar have always been my gig.. the former was trending towards downtown Amjacks a bit, though.
