Right now, I have quite a few decent options in terms of stuff to wear with one, but I am in need of inspiration.

Navy pinstripes can be hard to pull off, because the suit itself already demands attention (in a lot of cases). I want something that is classic and elegant but interesting at the same time.

What is the best way you've found to put together a good navy pinstripe ensemble?

Is a knit tie too informal/sporty for the navy pinstripes, which seem to suggest business attire? This is a combination that SO many people have to put together on a daily basis, so you get even more credit for pulling this off well.

Thanks, EXE

I'm a beginner at all this, but I - as somebody who works in a conservative field - would raise my eyebrows at a knit tie in a business context, unless the overall effect was very good. Even then...

If I'm going for a very elegant look, then I'd keep it simple. Thus, with a pinstripe suit, I'd wear white shirt, nice silk tie with a burgundy or blue background, white linen pocket square with tv fold, and black captoe shoes. Very simple.

White or light blue shirt; solid navy tie or navy tie with white pin-dots (make sure the background of the tie is not the same shade as the suit); white pocket square.

Boardroom-serious? black cap-toe balmorals.

Do a search on user Holdfast in the What Are You Wearing Right Now thread. He's got some navy pinstripes and wears them quite well.
