Audi R8 - Page 4

I've seen the car in person and concur that it's better looking 'in the flesh' than in photos. Typically, I find the opposite to be true.

I cannot, regrettably, comment on whether or not the engine is "boring."

The car looks good, the engine is a-ok, but the exhaust note from the cabin is full-spec dull. It needs a new set of pipes, desparately!

Even if the engine is dull (by some peoples standards), you got love the fact the engine compartment is lighted, so that it can be displayed at night as well as day.

If they put a monster diesel in the R8 and shipped it, it would be the coolest supercar since the McLaren F1.

I got a ride around California Speedway's Grand Am course (the oval and the infield) this past weekend in a Z06. It is without a doubt one of the most awesome cars I've ever been in. Never mind the cheap-looking interior. Never mind even the ridiculous engine which pushed us to about 140MPH at start/finish and could induce power oversteer at will at almost any reasonable speed.

The most surprising thing about the car is how well it rotates! It was about as neutral a car as I've ever felt, and that is a direct comparison with driving a mid-engined car around the same course.

If that is good I wonder how good the Corvette ZR-1 is.
