That's the dude, all right. And his laugh is not the only maniacal thing about him. Both of his restaurants in Cleveland are excellent -- Lola and Lolita. His signature braised beef cheek pierogie with onions and horseradish creme fraiche is just....whoa! I do think it's slightly unfortunate that his star is so bright in Cleveland that it hides some of the many culinary gems the City has to offer. And there are quite a few. ~Huntsman

Either the sushi was good and the tapas sucked, or the tapas was good and the dim sum items sucked.

The fact that such a thing even exists makes me sad for society.

Lola and, by proxy, Michael Symon rules.

If you're in Cleveland often, be sure to hit Velvet Tango Room if you've not already. It's a very swank, ultra-lounge type of place nestled between Ohio City and Tremont in an unassuming house, much like B&B from what I understand. I'm yet to personally try it, but fully intend to next time I make it out that way.

I met him once very briefly while my girlfriend and I were at Lolita for their happy hour specials. I wanted to ask him for Anthony Bourdain's number.

What restaurants would you recommend? My girlfriend is originally from one of the east suburbs, so I'm in the area from time to time.

He's an obnoxious twat, but his grub was good.

The amuse bouche was a vinegary custard enrobing a quail's egg. Frigging great.

The VTR is my favorite place in the entire world. I'd use classy and classic to describe it though. It is definitely not for everybody, as it's not hip in the 'hipster' sense and they don't kowtow to the snobbery that passes for 'cool' in the current sense. They appreciate people who understand what they do, which is provide absolutely mindblowing classic cocktails, incredible service, classic atmosphere, and elegant live music. Most of my restaurant forays in Cleveland are in Ohio City, which I love, and tend to stay around. The Flying Fig and Light Bistro absolutely own, and the food is easily on par or better than Lola. The last time I was at light, I ate a quail stuffed with chorizo, cornbread, and lingonberries. Just insane. Eastside is not my 'hood, but Moxie did some inventive but not annoyingly-trendy work, their steakhouse, Red is supposedly awesome (both in Beachwood). Pacific East does excellent sushi, and there is an awesome Italian bakery in Murray Hill. ~ H

Well, I didn't have Jerome Ferrer, but I did have the lobster cappucino there.

There are certainly standout/famous amuses such as the Keller's salmon cornet or the Aprege Egg.
