Geez! What does a Republican dress like? Maybe that's what screwing up my interviews...

If my straight drinking buddy isn't being mistaken as my partner, he's at least being mistaken as the gay one. Something about being well dressed, big quiff and avian mannerisms that leads people to spurious conclusions.

You know, that's not entirely what I've seen in my limited experience.

I agree, I am so sick of dressing well being associated with being gay (not that there's anything wrong with it). Even here in New York, I STILL come across ignorant people who think its somehow feminine to dress well.

no, it is feminine to dress better than females. for obvious reasons.

Hey Adam,

Not sure if you still check this thread, months later. I noticed it because I'm from Winnipeg too, except I *am* gay. Although I've never been into the stereotypical gay dress, either the fetishizing of Abercrombie & Fitch (which may be worn by American jocks, but is a completely gay fantasy style) or the tucked in shirts and shiny dress shoes. (I prefer either rugged casual -- slightly distressed jeans, plain t-shirt, and Converse sneakers -- or something a bit more old-fashioned dandy/hipster/vintage/indie -- simple cardigans, gingham shirts, fitted plaid, all-around minimal stuff.) Do you have any examples of what your dress looks like (pictures?) that gets you all the gay comments?

I'll say this. I've never seen more gay guys in one place than when I was at Uniqlo today. Take that as you will.

Girls your age are stupid and shallow. Go get yourself a nice cougar who will appreciate your outfits.
