Chinese counterfeit ties on eBay

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with ties like the ones sold by this character on eBay: start_hpf

Basically, they're sold out of China, and cost about $6 apiece shipped on eBay. Lots of positive ratings for the seller. The tie you get is a knockoff (the two I got are "Zegna" and "Burberry"), fairly long, 4" wide and with a thick lining.

My initial impression is that it's a heck of a tie for $6. Believe it or not, it ties a nice FIH, that is, pretty big, but not an elongated tube like some wide ties. The fabric and the construction are only "okay," but for what you pay, it ain't bad. It looks like real silk to me, but who knows. Anybody with a more informed opinion tried them out?

burn the fibers if they melt then its a poly tie, for $6 you cant go wrong, but it is hardly a real zegna, or burberry.

Check and see if it ties a good knot, then wait to see how long the tie lasts. The quality of a tie is not always apparent upon initial inspection.

I just bought one. We shall see...

I have just purchased 4 silk ties made in China from e-bay.  They are not sold as any particular brand but look good.  The cost per tie was British Pounds 0.70p (under one pound),  I was the only bidder on each.

The cheapest was 53 pence.  All are free delivered.  To be honest, I don't mind that much if they do not turn up.  They say 25 days to deliver to the UK from China.  OK its a gamble, they may be rubbish, but I will update if they arrive and advise quality.

for gods sake it is a tie, if you like the design then buy it, it doesn't have to cost $200 in order to qualify as a good tie..

Since my first visit to Shanghai in 2001 I have generally assumed that popular designer ties on eBay are fake. The markets were just overflowing with them back then.

That said, for the couple of dollars that I paid for the ones I bought back then, they were good value for the money. Reasonably well constructed and decent looking... you'd have had a hard time finding a better tie for $3 or $4 each. They certainly weren't worth $50 though, and since it's impossible to tell what's real online I've always steered clear of that sort of thing on eBay.

Everything from China is fake.

That doesn't mean it's all bad.
