Bald, Bearded...Beautiful?

I have been buzzing my head every week, about 1/16th of an inch. I was looking at some old photographs from last winter and liked the way my face carried a beard, as well as how warm it kept my face. How do you think it would look now with the buzzed head? Would I need to grow some hair back on top in order to be able to carry the beard? I'm only 31, so while my hair may be thinning, I'm not a full fledged baldie like my pops.

Here's a pic of me with hair on top last year with a thinner beard.

Here's a pic of my head shaved down a bit.

Is it doable with the buzzed head, or will it just look stupid? Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm Michelangelo and I approve this idea.

I prefer the longer thinning hair. It isn't that obvious that you are thinning and I think it actually suits you since your eyebrows are so strong. As long as you have some sort of follicular silhouette and don't appear to be trying to comb over or hide anything, then people will not notice and their minds will fill in the gaps. Only thing I'd be worried about are pictures, but if you need to get a nice picture taken then you can use a concealer like Toppik.

If you do shave the head, I'd keep the beard shaved also and get in shape.

I like the buzzed look.

Buzz looks good. Nothing worse than straggly thinning hair, though yours looks better than most.

Keep a little on there, your ears stick out a lot so you look like Matt Lindland with a shaved head.

I've grown to appreciate thinning hair patterns. I think they give a lot of character and make for a distinguished look if done properly. That being said, I'm not a fan of the one I have starting.

A few look good but many more look really bad. That said, some head and face shapes do seem to carry a buzz much better than others.

I think every thinning man would say the same thing...like you said, I think my hair is worse than anyone else thinks. I guess getting old isn't all glorious.

Thanks for the replies, suggestions, and godly images!

To do it right you have to be totally bald on top, with a big honking beard on the face. Sorta like the top of your head slid downward under the weight of its own win.

I think it looks fine, think Jason Statham.

Remember that he has an english accent, was a model, olympic diver, and is extremely handsome as well as being a movie star. If only having thinning hair and a 5-o'clock shadow made everyone Jason Statham.
