Recommend me a beer

At the ripe age of 40, I've recently gotten into trying new beers. For the past couple of months, my brother and I get together and indulge in a six-pack of a beer new to us.

Please recommend your favorite beers so we I expand my knowledge and appreciation of this primal beverage.

I'll attempt to write a short review of new beers I try and it would be cool if others could do the same.

I'm partial to the Belgian Leffe. Very smooth with hints of orange.

Since you are in CA, I'd start local: Anchor Steam, Bear Republic, Anderson Valley, Stone, Lagunitas, Left Coast. That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I would imagine there are more which are not distributed to MA. Let us know what you try, what you like, and what you don't like so we can tailor some recommendations.

There's a pizza pub near me that has this on tap. The pizza's pretty good too, and every Monday night, 16" pizzas are half price. I love that place.

Red Stripe
Duvel
Hoegaarden
Pacifico Clara
Negro Modelo

Obviously, there are tons and tons of obscure beers, some from local breweries and such that are pretty difficult to find. I tend to stick to ones that I know taste good, and can be found pretty much everywhere.

Guinness - For Life!

Pyramid - Anything by them. I used to live in Seattle and visited the brewery frequently... The attached pub was a great place for staff meetings!!!!!

Thanks for the awesome recommendations! I dropped over to my local BevMo during lunch and picked up 4 different IPAs (new term for me). Picked up Imperial, Lagunitas, Stone and Santa Cruz. I'll be reporting on them on Sunday morning - unless I have a raging hangover.

BTW - I plan on trying every one of the recommendations if I can find them
