yes he did nod[1].gif

Korean Zombie was impressive and he continues to improve but I don't think he can beat Jose Aldo. I don't see anyone in the 145 division beating Aldo anytime soon for that matter.

Zombie kicked ass, got a little gassed in the 4th round but was very impressive, especially in the finish. Rest of the card was pretty meh, I didn't catch the prelims though.

Nobody watched Strikeforce last night?

I was pulling for Barnett ffffuuuu.gif

Pretty good card overall. Melendez/Thompson was a great fight, could've been scored either way really. A bit of armchair quarter backing: I really think if Barnett had more of a bjj submission mindset (i.e. position before submission) & skillset (working from closed/open/half guard) he could've had a chance to submit Cormier. Looked like he had a few opportunities, but he doesn't seem to have much off his back as a CACC guy. Beyond that, he got out punched and being that there was no way he was going to get a takedown he should've focused more on kicks.

Cormier is legit. Time to throw him into the deep end of the UFC HW division.

He's beast, hits hard and has ridiculous wrestling skills.

Cormier = Black Fedor?

nah just some wishful thinkin sherdoggers thinkin he`s the second coming of fedor biggrin.gif

Moral of the story: If you have world-class wrestling and hit hard, you can do pretty well in MMA. See also Johny Hendricks. Wonder if Cormier will ever fight Cain (they're training partners) if it comes down to that.

I highly doubt Cain and Cormier will ever fight each other but money talks so you never know. Cormier has to go over to the UFC, there's nobody left in the Strikeforce heavyweight division.

Anyone excited about the all-HW UFC 146 this weekend? I know everyone's got a puncher's chance in MMA, but I'm trying to figure out how Mir beats JDS. I can think of the following scenarios:

1. JDS rocks Mir, gets too aggressive in following up and gets rocked by a counter. Think Arlovski-Sylvia II.

2. JDS rocks Mir, follows him to the ground and falls into his guard, gets submitted. Think Mir-Sylvia.

3. Mir pulls guard and submits JDS. Think Nogueira-Sylvia.

I don't think any of these things happen. JDS by TKO, round 2.

There is a fourth possibility, which is that Mir rocks JDS (think Chael Sonnen style), takes it to the ground, and submits JDS (MIr has good top game). I don't really see this happening, but I actually think that it's more probably than the other 3 options.

I'm going with JDS, Valasquez, and Herman for the main card. The JDS/Mir Matchup is an interesting one, nice to see a new pairing going at it.
