I'm sure the buckets of blood didn't help anything to improve the image of the sport. All the blame on the ref?

Probably explains why the guy on the bottom didn't do ****. I suppose its hard to do anything after losing that much blood.

It was a poor, but probably technically borderline call. He wasn't trying to better his position or escape AT ALL. But he was still alert and defensive. I think that maybe there was some thought that he could or at least should (as a trained fighter) be able to put up some sort of fight physically and that maybe he was going to do something. The ref gave him every opportunity (more than he likely should have) to reboot and rally himself. I think that blood aside, head wounds are always dramatic, but not always as devestating as they look.

The part that was so strange was the fact that he was so overmatched in technique considering that he's a professional fighter who'd gotten past all the selection processes and etc. There's no way he could be as bad as he looked. He didn't lose that fight because of his lack of skill. I think he lost it because he didn't have the will to fight back. Not something you see in professional MMA fighters a lot.

Granted, by the end of that debacle, the cut looked pretty damn bad. I'm not saying the ref shouldn't have stopped it in the second round after he stood them up the second time.

^^ He lost his will for sure. Maybe it was the cut that got to him. However he stilled flat out sucked ( abe) > his ground game was NIL. He stand up was NIL. How can you win like that?
The shots the other guy did weren't great and not that fast. Abe didn't even attempt to sprawl, sweep,or better his position at anytime in the 10minutes he was fighting.

As far as quinton goes I think he's cheese'n it up for TV because he will be the next B.A.
some fighters are just fighters. Some fighters make great coaches and fighters and then there is Rampage who is an emotional ham.
who gives a **** which team wins as long as the fighters get to fight and the ratings are good.
Am I wrong?

I think the other guy being completely gassed was one of the main reasons the fight wasn't called early.

No. I think thats pretty fair. Rampage isn't thrilling me with his coaching abilities, but just like in any other sport - not all the athletes can coach, or want to. Rampage is there to be Rampage. The trainers are going to be the main coaches.

Abe has a full-time desk job. I wonder how much he trains, and what he trains. I can't imagine his employer would tolerate him coming to work with black eyes and assorted facial injuries.

I doubt an employer would really care provided they're sports-related injuries. Guy mentioned he was a c-suite exec too. I would think the MMA thing would play pretty well in a lot of industries, actually.

Demico is the one your friends with right? He seriously looks like the best chance Team Rampage has thus far. I still can't believe "Big Abe" getting dominated like that, they kept talking about how big the guy is and he kept talking about his BJJ game, which was nonexistant in the fight. Major lols that Spike has been advertising the first episode of the season with dana being like "This is the worst cut I have ever seen in an opening fight". Blood = win for spike.

Yeah. known him since high school and he trains at my old gym with my old trainer.
I'm hoping he did well. Obviously he can't say. He even waited to put his Team Rampage jersey on last night until after he was selected on the show.

I'll just say that I saw him right after he got back, and he looked completely uninjured. Whatever that means.

I think his wife might be a little creeped out by that.

Probably not many, but he's looked dominant in every HW amateur fight he's had to this point. Granted, not guys of the same caliber he fought in the house, but it's not like he can't take a punch or wrestle with guys his size or bigger. His last fight, he bodyslammed a dude that was 260 and g+p him to ko in less than a minute. hopefully his skills translate.

Edit: I know he's trained with anyone in the area that will work with him. I believe he mentioned that he's at least met with Randy Couture and Josh Barnett. I don't know if they've put any ring time in together or not. But if Demico does well, I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL to see Couture in his corner in the future. He seems like the kind of guy who'd back up D in a heartbeat. The NW fighting scene is ass backwards at the moment, and a legit NW star would do a world of good for the sport.
