Television in the early 1950s was only black and white. Color was a few years away. Each of the shows below was a staple of my earliest TV watching days. The special effects on Andy's Gang were the pinnacle of high-tech.

Andy's Gang with Midnight the Cat, Squeaky, and Froggy the Gremlin was filmed in front of a live studio audience. Where else could you see a frog plunk his magic twanger?

The Adventures of Sky King. Penny made my six year old body feel "funny".

The Lone Ranger with Tonto. This was my first exposure to the William Tell Overture.

The Cisco Kid and Pancho.

Brother Buzz and his Ladyfriend Busy Bee were strictly an area show broadcast out of San Francisco on KPIX. The program even dealt with environmental issues. But, that's San Francisco for you.

Back in the day, all the Snick shows were awesome. Pete and Pete, Ren and Stimpy, etc. I also liked alot of the old WB shows weekday afternoons; Batman, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain. Currently, the Misadventures of Flapjack, and Chowder are great.

Not sure if your looking for stuff that does not offend your standards of good parenting or just things that you'll like your self. Anyhow as far as decent kids fare I would say Kimba the White Lion is pretty great, muppets of course, Scooby Do, Looney Toons, My kids eight so his tastes have evolved a bit but I always really tried to keep him away from the overly commercial crap, ala Yu Gi O.

I was watching this show the acidickid was watching, Phineas & Ferb, about 2 stepbrothers with crazy ideas, a sister who spoils them and a pet platypus that's actually a secret agent. I know it sounds like shit, but it is actually a very funny and well-written show- with 2 or 3 stories going at it at the same time in one show.

Odd. According to Wikipedia, Zoom was originally produced from 1972-1978.

I think that it's a real service to families to be able to record such programs and show them at appropriate times. I have always felt that with the advent of all of this new technology that allows people to tape the 'Neighborhood' off-the-air, and I'm speaking for the 'Neighborhood' because that's what I produce, that they then become much more active in the programming of their family's television life. Very frankly, I am opposed to people being programmed by others. My whole approach in broadcasting has always been 'You are an important person just the way you are. You can make healthy decisions.' Maybe I'm going on too long, but I just feel that anything that allows a person to be more active in the control of his or her life, in a healthy way, is important."

The next time you fire up the Tivo be sure to thank Mr Rogers.

+∞ on Yo Gabba Gabba!

The creators must do some serious acid. The remix of the show at the end is fun, fun, fun!

Hmmm...perhaps I am misremembering my dates. I was just a little shaver at the time. I do recall that I was told that the program had gone out of production. Perhaps I had seen an episode in 1974 that had aired in 1972.
