Just curious as to the cat-owning population of SF. I'll make this poll anonymous for the shyer among you. Mensimagecollector once hinted that the number of men who admitted to owning cats on this forum made it seem somehow less masculine. Hmph.

You can still find many descendants of Ernest Hemingway's polydactyl cat at his Key West home, many of which also have genetic mutations.

Winston Churchill had a cat that he would bring in to Cabinet meetings. Then again, he also travelled with a parakeet at one point in his life.

I like how Isaac Newton invented the cat-flap. Ingenious!

Not sure how I feel about Petrarch's cat being "put to death and mummified" when Petrarch died.

Cardinal Richelieu building a cattery is in tune with his general coolness.

I wonder if Karl Lagerfeld has a cat.

Also, there is a song--I kid you not--with the lyrics "Wash that cat, meow meow meow." I heard it on my way to NY in March.
