90210

Did anyone else catch the series premiere of 90210 last night? It's not as good as the original, but I'm willing to give it a few views. Tristan Wilds, who played Michael on The Wire, is the Brandon Walsh character, and I keep expecting him to call Chris and Snoop to take care of his problems. Jennie Garth still looks great. One significant internal inconsistency is that Rob Estes already plays a character in the 90210/Melrose Place "universe" but then shows up as the dad in the new show.

It seemed to me the main strength of the original was that the cast was really, really, ridiculously good-looking. How does the new class match up?

Dude. Dude. I mean, dude.

Is this a show that "catches up" with some of the original characters? Or is it one of those "reimagined" shows that takes the original premise and pretends that the first show never happened?

I really need an answer to this question. Thanks in advance.

well he's not the SAME character, so it's more like there's a doppleganger running around that just LOOKS like the Melrose Place guy

I liked it, we'll see where it goes. One of the things that ended up being a strong point for the original 90210 is that all the main characters were good friends, for the most part. This new cast seems like it's going to have less friendliness and more rivalries

I like how that one kid drives a Bentley convertible and owns his own jet. geebus

The "hot chick" (blond from Nip/Tuck) is NOT hot at all, didnt think so when she was the tramp on NipTuck either. The "Brenda" is really cute, a good casting for a girl next door type. She's awfully skinny and bony tho. Silver (aka David and Kelly's half sister) is the hottest one imo. She kinda has that "Megan Fox" look, a little. The actress chick is blah and they should just kill her off to create some drama.

Now the big question is "Who knocked up Kelly Taylor???". and where's Dylan in all this?!!

The next question is will that teacher guy EVER shave or will he have perpetual 8 oclock shadow in each episode.

I did like the cameo by "Andrea Zuckerman's daughter" and how the teacher says she looks "30" when she's on tv

Better looking, as there's no Tori Spelling dragging down the average.

It's an updated version of the show with an entirely new cast, except for Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty, who reprise their original roles. I believe they play a guidance counselor and drama teacher, respectively. It still takes place at West Beverly High School. The theme song is the same but has also been updated, and there's no cheesy opening montage introducing the characters.

So it's 20 years later and another naive rube family moves to BH and is shocked by all the venality, except these rubes are black? Is that about it?

Why couldn't they get the male actors from the original show? Their careers appear to have gone nowhere.

It's not 90210 unless it has Luke Perry.

IIRC, the family is originally from California and are moving back because the dad is the new principal of West Beverly. The family is white and adopted the son.

This doesn't sound like much fun. So two of the rich princesses from the original show work at the school, as does the father of the central family?

Without any rich bitches, this show will tank.

BTW, a CA public school salary, while not terrible, would not go far in the West LA housing market. If the show were realistic, the family should live in Palmdale, and the dad should have to commute two hours each way every day.

Is it the chick that played Portia de Rossi's daughter? Because I thought teh hotness on Nip/Tuck. And I'm kind of willing to bet you're the only one who disagrees with me. Seriously, I'm at a loss here, that chick is gorgeous.

yea it's her, Eden from NipTuck of course she's hot from an objective viewpoint, but she just doesnt float my boat. Most of my friends feel the same so I know I'm not crazy Principals make between 80k-120k in LA.....so the Dad def could not afford to live in Bev Hills, but didnt they move into his mom's house so it's not like HE bought a house in town. (and the wife/mother, Lori Loughlin, looks to have a high profile/paying job in the fashion industry of some sort)
