"Weight Loss" or Metabolism Pills - Are There Any That Actually Help At All?

Hello!

First of all, I'm not trying to dodge the work involved in losing weight; I know that it takes diet and exercise, duh, I'm not a woman. But if there's something out there to speed the process up a bit or to make it more efficient (e.g., higher fat-to-muscle loss ratio) - besides amphetamines or cigarettes (I prefer cigars, pipes and nasal snuff) - I'm not too proud for the help.

I'm certain that the junk I see advertised on TV are just scams taking advantage of the lazy, but I'm still open to exploring the possibility of a pill helping out because, after recently beginning to take R-ALA, ALCAR, Piracetam, Choline and Fish Oil, I've experienced first-hand the positive effects that some supplements seem to be capable of (at least in my case.) They've been boon enough to me that I'm curious to find out what else is out there that I can get a boost from.

Righto, thanks.

I find E easy on my system. Y can be tough. Search for a clean source. OTC, I use twin labs Yohimbe Fuel. I tried the Vitamin Shop brand once and thought I was going to die. Sweats, palpitations, shivering, anxiety and stomach ache. Of course, there's always DNP. lefty

Don't be an idiot...that junk can be dangerous and can have long term negative effects. Check with your doctor, regarding what your best options might include. When you get real desperate, try diet and exercise! Good luck!

If you loose weight too quickly you may end up with loose skin (the problem I have now) so you probably don't want to drop weight too quickly. Also if you try to go down to quickly, you are likely to loose muscle too (also a problem I had), so you want to keep your weightloss steady, and make sure you keep your muscle mass. If I had it over, I'd loose a kg a week for 4 weeks, then spend 2 weeks eating more, and doing lots of weights to bulk up a little, and aim to put on a little weight, then spend another 4 weeks loosing a kg a week, then back to bulking.

Do weights, get enough protein, eat less for dinner. Caffeine, chili, lots of veggies, less starch, no sugar and enough liquids is the way to go.

You mentioned high fat to muscle loss ratio. Carnitine supplementation has been said to aid this as it is responsible for transporting fatty acids to the mitochondria (i.e. helps use fat as energy). But there is very little evidence for this as enough carnitine is free forming and stored in the body.

If you wanna try it, it couldn't hurt as there is some evidence that it helps lower cholesterol, treat CHF etc... Its just not exactly cheap.

Oh yea, for that fat to muscle loss ratio thingy the high protein diet is also likely wise.

as far as specifics go, i suggest straight regular ephedrine, which you can get off amazon.com from bayer....one of those, a couple hundred mgs of caffiene (or less) and some aspirin and you are set...for cheap...with pharm grade ingredients.

dont go herbal for supplements when you dont have to. and when its cheaper not to.
