Never patronized fast-food establishments - Page 6

I worked at Taco Bell a few years ago in college and after reheating the "beef" we found a large chunk of hairy cowhide in it.

Oh and dont eat the rice. We had to dump shite loads of lard in there with an ice cream scooper.

I am glad others don't like quiznos. I do eat at McD, but only hash browns when hungover. For some reason I like KFC salads, especially the macaroni salad and the green coleslaw. Recent addition to fast food here is Hero Burger, not that good and really $$.

With all of the local good fast food why eat at a chain. I can get roti served to me in 5 minutes, jamaican patties served immediately, fresh fruit from a stand, a burrito, falafels, and so many other things, geting in my car to drive to a fast food place is a waste

I like quiznos, although it is expensive, it is pretty good if they make it right. I don't really eat fast food or at most chain restaraunts as I am a vegetarian. Besides, Applebee's is too f'ing dumb to make a veggie burger properly, they always end up sticking bacon on it, and they microwave a lot of their food. Sonic is mediocre, I only get their drinks, which are usually good, and are really cheap, especially during happy hour.

That's what makes them taste so freaking good. I'm lost as to how Culver's would be on anyone's bad list.

I worked at SBarros for two years for the most part we were pretty clean restaurant. there are a few occasions that come to mind. Mind you mushrooms are the most expensive topping, and when i spilled a 5 gallon bucket of them on the floor my mangager was none to happy so what did he tell me to do sweep those mushrooms back in the bucket and continue to use them. Any time a friend would come in I would advise against anything with a mushroom in it. I also seen people hock big lugers into the dough as it was being mixed in the back. And yes on one occasion I had a disgruntle customer unpleased with his ziti being to dry after he had been given a free one, so I gladly offered to to go in the kitchen and make him another. I gave it a little saliva to moisten things up a bit for him threw it in the steamer box and here you are sir sorry for all the trouble. I am pretty sure every place has there moments, but I never send food back to the kitchen EVER.

Solly's Grille comes highly recommended via "Hamburger Nation":

i just went to olive garden last saturday with my wife.

terrible terrible.

anyone else agree? their pasta is not pasta dishes at all. it is more like boiled noodle with a bland sauce poured on top. what the heck is that

i dont taste any roasted garlic in olive oil, or any infused spices or fresh herbs in anything. and why dont they put the pasta in the pan and give it a good stir in the sauce?
and the noodle. do they even know what al dente means? overcooked.

and their sausage and meatballs. do they just boil them? gave me such a sickening wienery aftertaste i needed to wash down the taste with some strong liquor or something.

their salad is about the only thing that is good there

Butter is a product made by God himself, even if you don't acknowledge God, you have to atleast believe it's derived from the evolution of some good sh*t.

I've always thought OG was nothing special, there's times when we go there for work, and the only dish I'll order are the portibello mushroom ravioli, otherwise their food is far from great.

I will give them one thumbs up, on getting you half-way full on free bread and salad before the meal comes out.

I know what you mean, but I don't think it is horribly bad, I could eat it, and if you order judiciously, it can be quite cheap.

HOWEVER...

The amazing thing is the amount of business that these chain restaurants still do. The last time I was at OG about 2 years ago, there was a 45 minute wait for dinner!!! This is in Palo Alto, CA, where there are about 10,000 authentic food choices within a 20 minute drive. I have no excuse either, I was there too, along with the rest of real America.

I think a huge segment of American diners value familiarity, cheapness provided just a mimimum of quality (i.e. no flies?), and a bizarre x-factor of "keep it real" - they don't like restaurants that try too hard to be authentic or "nice", they don't like fancy, they don't want to go to whatever new restaurant is featured in their local paper. They wanna "get their grub on" with free coke refills. I know this because I do it myself, sometimes.
