Why do I keep hearing all these chain restaurants on SF that I've never heard of or there's none in NYC?

Has anyone tried Sharky’s? Similar to ELP but with "healthier" alternative ingredients. Had it about three weeks ago was very impressed. Here's their website: http://www.sharkys.com

You and the wife ate 12 pieces?! You really DO love Pollo Loco! My aunt's in L.A. love that, and from their suggestion, we had a 12 piece take-out when I was there too, I like rolling the chicken with the green salsa and refried beans.

Awesome. I find myself eating at EPLs when I'm on the road, but never in my own area. I do love getting my fingers messy, pulling apart the chicken and putting it in the tortillas.

They opened an EPL 1/2 block from me a few months ago, and I have to say that I like the chicken a lot, but the burritos I've had there have been very bland. The salsa bar is great, but I haven't found a side worth eating.

pollo loco used to be good when it was family owned and operated. the original one is on alvarado near downtown l.a. back then, the only thing they sold was chicken, rice, and beans, nothing else. then the company was bought out by the company that owns denny's (so i'm told) and that's when they started spreading out and selling burritos, tacos, mashed potatoes, macaroni, all that crap.

if you go there just order the chicken, corn tortillas, and rice & beans if you like them. that's the real deal. they used to put little bits of jalapeños in their beans , but they stopped that about 10 years ago.

I forgot about the jalapeños in the beans. That did make them tastier.

Tucson used to have both El Pollo Asado and El Pollo Loco. They were both good, but I think the current version of El Pollo Loco is slightly different.

As I stated previously, the chicken is still yummy.
