Seattle Restaurant Advice

Thread Starter
My girlfriend and I will be in Seattle for a few days and are looking for restaurant advise. Specifically, we are interested in seafood and Asian restaurants. They don't need to be budget places, but we also don't want anything super fancy. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You're going to have to be even more specific than that. What kind of seafood are you interested in and what type of Asian food? We are in the enviable position of being balls deep in both of them.

It's not either of those specifically, but a bunch of us went to the Dahlia Lounge for Slim's birthday the other night and ohhhhhh wow, try the Peking Duck. Unreal.

I lived in Seattle for many years and here is my list of favorites, no particular order:

-Campagna
-Rover's
-Palomino (OMG good)
-Chandler's Crabhouse (best seafood ever!!)

Enjoy and please et us know where you went...

For seafood you cant beat The Brooklyn or McCormick and Schmicks especially during their happy hours.

Asian food...the Purple Dot in Chinatown is good for dim sum. Also theres a ton of viet places and theyre all good except the downtown ones for some reason. Check Yelp.com too.

In Seattle for a couple of days next week. Want to take my hosts for a lovely dinner. I know very little about Seattle cuisine. Canlis? The Pink Door? Palisades? Prefer French, classy, Michelin (?). Italian cool, with great homestyle cooking and good wine would be fine, too. But, any of your suggestions for any style much appreciated.

In the market, I'd skip pink door and go with place pigalle instead. I've had nice meals at pink door, and very mediocre ones. 50/50 That being said, I haven't been to Canlis, but if I were trying to impress someone, probably where I'd take them. Assuming I had to spend that much to impress them.

By Toronto standards you will find European cuisine in Seattle rather disappointing, especially Italian. Your best bet is Lark, which focuses on using fresh, local ingredients.

Just went to Seattle for the first time last weekend. Asian food... beware! the international district is sketch as hell. I think the best asian food is in bellevue, but i could be mistaken cause i did not get out there. You want some serious chinese food (dim sum, szechuan, shanghainese, the works) troll up to Vancouver. Best in North America... No joke. I have had the best SF and LA have to offer and it does not compare. closest you will get outside China on this continent.

PS. Yelp! does not work in Seattle. the great places had shit rating and the horrible spot had 4 stars. beware.

We like to confuse tourists and keep good stuff safe. Would be curious as to what restaurants you went to though, like and dislike.

Asian food /= Chinese food, just so you know. All the best Japanese places are out of Chinatown, and there are quite a few top notch Japanese/sushi spots (imo)

Of course the likes were beechers, le panier and piroshky piroshky at pikes place. Also MOD pizza was AMAZING! how is it that place was not mentioned? wound up there on a fluke and it was terrific.

the pikes place brewery was nothing to write home about, there was a thai joint downtown that was about a 6 and Szechuan Noodle (which came recommended from SF) was an effin joke! i dont know what the people on Yelp are thinking, because of that i skipped Jade Garden (not to mention the cracked out neighborhood).

Place Pigale is great, in the corner of Pike Place Market. It's hard to find, so it keeps most of the idiots out. Amore is great Italian on 4th and Wall. For Japanese-style food, I also really like Umi Sake House, which is on that one fucking street.
