Grensons from Paul Stuart

I just bought my first pair of Grensons two weeks ago at the Paul Stuart sale in NYC. The price was pretty heavily discounted, and the should was a nice burgundy wing tip. However, wearing them for just the second time yesterday - I noticed the tip of the sole was starting to peel off the shoe. Not the sole itself, but the bottom covering. I didnt walk through water with them or anything either. Can't say that Im all that pleased with the experience. I have a pair of Greens and a pair of C&Js - never had this happen with either....

I have this happen on all my shoes that have channelled soles -- Edward Green included. But, how much has peeled off? Just an 1/8 of an inch, or more? I wear down the toe area pretty quickly on shoes - more so on pointy ones - so I always get a cobbler to nail in a bunch of slugs into the toe area both to slow down the wear but also to keep the channelled sole leather in place. Of course, if yours is an extreme case, perhaps they're defective.

kabert - maybe just a touch more - like 1/4 of an inch. I think Ill go with the nail idea that you propose. Thanks for the advice.
