It's not a "mutation" if we're going to be technical about it. Nothing has changed on the genetic level.

How can it be from insulin in these guys with extremely low body fat? Insulin does cause increases fat storage, but if you diet down to <6% BF like these pro bodybuilders, that fat is gone. Insulin won't cause you to magically retain it.

I take insulin (diabetic) and have used it with tremendous success to gain muscle mass. My waistline is probably higher than it would be otherwise, but I'm not cutting to 6% either.

It may be by an upregulation of lipoprotein lipase activity on the fat cells. LPL is most concentrated on the abdomen in males. A low testosterone level will also increase LPL activity, in the mid-section particularly, which I'm not sure how supplemental HGH has an effect on.

correct, it's visceral fat, which is why they still have visible abs even though their midsection distends outwards.

this is bodybuilding we're talking about here, don't be ridiculous, there is no such thing as "natty" anymore.

haha true. I guess if models can take coke to stay skinny, BBers can juice up. More to the point, if they were less juiced and has less of a gut, they'd look better and be more symmetric/have more of a taper

yup, this is why bodybuilders from the "golden age" (arnold, zane, wilkosz, oliva, etc etc) looked great. they were on a ton of gear but there was no insulin with every meal. it's a real shame what bodybuilding has become as a lot of men might aspire to have a physique like zane's, but rarely to one like marcus ruhl or ronnie coleman.

Even if they had excess visceral fat from insulin, they should still be able to diet it off. Would the visceral fat really hang around in those quantities, when these guys are shredded everywhere else? Even if it would, wouldn't some of them try to continue the cut to get rid of that ab bulge?

over 90% of nfl players take hgh, it is not regulated there yet. it is basically the fountain of youth drug. 3 years and climbing of 3iu/day.
