Current Events, Power and Money

Why does this forum require a member to have 100 post before reading anything on the Current Events. Power and Money forum?

Because it is a nasty place, filled with flaming, insults, inuendo, white supremacy, black power racism, yellow fever, Mexican irredentism, class warfare, and so much else that would not be suitable for the casual visitor to SF.

Manton, don't be mean.

It's because CE,P&M is a glorious place, full of insight, wit and intelligent commentary. The best minds of our generation are not destroyed by madness, but rather congregate in CE,P&M to engage in robust debate on the most important issues of the day. J, our kind and generous and far-sighted leader, realized that in order to preserve this shining gem of respectful and, at times, awe-inspiring disputation, he would have to close it to all but the elect. Which he, in his wisdom, defined as those with 100 posts, at least.

We wish you luck, good sir, in your pursuit of this cherished goal.

It may be days, it may be months, but I will get those 100 post!

It should be 1000 posts minimum. There's too much fragility inside of the heart of a SF newbie.

sarcasm aside, CE has a long history of people signing up with multiple IDs to support their own arguments, people being banned, rejoining, and reentering arguments, and so forth. Plus, it gets pretty heated in there, and the new guys often arent used to the regular personalities...100 posts gives them a chance to learn the essentials (ie- Steve B = commie swine, artisan fan = facist pig, whnay = always right about everything)....

This is what current event's threads (at least the good ones) are usualy like, except for 30% of the posts are from Artisan Fan and Manton.
