Well, I'm happy to report that they're loosening up already. Wore them indoors for a bit yesterday, and walked around in them today, and they're beginning to wrap around my feet much more comfortably (as opposed to the vise-like grip out of the box). The double sole will take some work, but on the flip side, it's showing remarkably little wear after an afternoon of walking on pavement and cobblestones. Yay!

I sadly have had the opposite effect, after a day at work in my normal shoes these feel like torture devices when I popped them on this evening.

They still feel really tight and are nipping on the top of my lt foot. Going to try half a size bigger but if the same problem occurs then they will be going down as a missed oppurtunity. Oh well fingers crossed because the more I look at the colour of the suede the more I love it.

Has anyone received their Sandringhams yet? I'd be interested in your first impressions and perhaps some photos, since the illustrations on the KG website are quite rubbish. At least, I believe that they don't reflect the true colours accurately.
Thanks!

I received my Chelsea's (green

We might as well start a support group. I already have a pair of Chelsea's in tan on the 202 last with the green KG/EG joining the stable. My current tan ones are a bit too loose (8/8.5 F) causing the leather at the toes to buckle downwards as I walk and hurt the tops of my toes. I found that cutting up neoprene mousepads and using them as inserts over my toe helped the problem 100%. They do loosen up a great deal so good luck everyone!

This really made me smile. Not your suffering I hasten to add; rather the use of a mouse mat in your shoes. It hasn't caused the shoes to squeak has it?

Interesting. I ended up having to return my size 8's as they were crippling my lt foot in the exact spot yfyf mentions. I switched for a 8.5 and they seem a lot better although they are a tough shoe to break for sure.
Fingers crossed now I think I have cracked it and found teh right size. Jut glad they had a pair left in the shop.

I have to say, much as I love the look of the 202, fundamentally I think it's not a very good last for me, especially in the Chelsea style. The last seems quite tall through the foot and the seam forming the captoe has a tendency to crease into the toes as a result. Seems the case for a fair number of people too.

On the other hand, it looks so great so what the hell

More pairs sent out today to their new owners. PMs/email to the relevant parties already sent.

Almost coming to the end - just waiting on a few more deliveries.

Re: fit - 202 can be a tricky last. For me, the issue tends to be pinching around the sides of the toes (they fit very nicely through the heel and arch/instep). I have a pair of Malverns on the 202 in 6.5E which are fine because I think the suede makes them a bit softer fitting. But in calf leather, I would need a wider fitting to give me the room needed at my toes.

how is this issue in the 82 last? Since it's narrower, I suspect the problem would be even worse, which prevented me from trying out that last even though it is my favorite looks-wise.

Well I don't find the 82 any slimmer than the 202. I have discussed this with other members and differing opinions have been put forth, but I have also discussed the matter with EG who agreed the 82 is a wide fitting last.

There seems to be a received wisdom that the 82 and 888 are the same but for the shape of the toe. Whilst I certainly agree the 888 is narrow, the 82 is significantly wider and I drop a half size in length (or a width) to compensate. This is just my own experience and as I have already written, others have different experiences.

The pics are not great but the shoes are very dark. Its hard to differentiate from black without a little natural light.

I think EG is one of those makers you really just have to try on to be sure of how they fit. They're just too damn unpredictable for me to ever feel confident giving out advice on their fit. FWIW, I don't fit well in any size of 82, nor 888, but do fit OK in 6.5E 202 in suede (6.5EE in calf) or 7E 808.

Those are sweet, JJL. Makes me wish I'd ordered all three colors.
