Urban Outfitters Anonymous

Ok Styleforum, welcome to Urban Outfitters Anonymous. I know I'm not the only one who used to blow my hard-earned money on some really trendy nonsense from the ne plus ultra of mass-marketed "Bohemian" chic. If you're brave post a similar list to mine: Most Cringe-inducing purchase: Really Bootcut Levi's premium "peace doves." Aside from the massive tears and bleach stains, these had a giant patch with a dove sewn on to the front of the jeans. Pretty sure they were over $200. Most recent purchase: Well after I should have known better, I bought a pair of Cheap Mondays there. I did tell everyone they were from Barney's though. Purchase I still wear: Novelty Modern Amusement boxers. MY girlfriend gets a kick out of them, and they're comfortable...

I've never bought anything at Urban Outfitters, but I do buy a lot of good (and bad) stuff at H&M.

Worst thing I ever bought was a military-style jacket. Washed it once, three buttons fell off and the color changed to a color that resembled feces.

Best thing I ever bought was a slim suit. Yeah, the quality is piss poor and the fit isn't perfect, and not to mention I have to sew a button on every once in awhile, but I didn't have a suit for my girlfriend's sorority formal and for less than $100 (jacket+pants, plus a dress shirt) I looked better than any of the other guys wearing their dad's old suit or their ill-fitting Calvin Klein suit.

Most recent stuff I purchased is a lot of the APC-knock off stuff. Very basic looking stuff, but the black and white striped polo looks and fits almost exactly like an APC one from a season or two ago.

Eh, I just ordered some more chucks from them. That's not too bad....is it?

The last thing I've bought from there was probably a seersucker jacket they had from one of their house brands a little over a year ago. It was 10 dollars after being heavily discounted and it was probably worth half that, sadly. Suffice to say, I don't wear it anymore.

Not hate on their plain 100% cotton tees. I like them better than AA ones for the most part and they're cheaper. I haven't been to one in almost a year though. My ex gf liked to shop there at times and as she spent a bunch of time in there i got bored and bought a few things on sale, haha. I still wear these seersucker swim trunks i impulse bought for $20 and get compliments on them. They're a good fit and don't look like swim trunks so i wear them as normal shorts occasionally.

I used to shop at Urban Outfitters quite a bit...
That was fifteen years ago. Yes, 15 years.... Between the ages of 14 and 17 or so...

Same here. I usually find myself in UO with my gf and quickly check over the sale rack. A few years ago I bought a few polos for very cheap, and still wear them every now and again. And I totally agree w/r/t the 100% cotton tees.

Who gives a damn where you got them. That's really douchey.

Theives! UO counterfits other artists work, and uses it as their own. I used to shop there in university, till I found out how cheap thier products were.. then I found out they steal other peoples work .. and I'll never support them again. Urban Counterfitters - a blog dedicated to uncovering thier practices. Jonny Cupcakes debacle. There's more too, which a quick google search would reveal.

I recently bought a couple Alternative Apparel tees that fit well. I also bought a BDG white u-neck that fits good but I haven't had the balls to wear it yet. The BDG crew and v-necks were way to long for some reason.

Not only that, but their corporate ownership has donated heavily to various Republican campaigns, including very anti-gay ones. Not a great idea when you consider the target customer base.

And to Why, I would say Barney's when asked because it would be a less douche-y option then UO. However looking at your post history I see that you are kind of a jerk and I will now be using the ignore option for the first time.

For the love of God, can you PLEASE post pictures of this??? Extra credit points if a picture is taken of you wearing them in public.

Haha, I might have to, if I can find them. Maybe for an April 1st WAYWT.

I love the idea for this thread!

Most Cringe-inducing purchase: 100% polyester hoody with black and neon yellow body, kelly green sleeves and kelly green hood. Fabric is thick and itchy to the touch.

Most recent purchase: Same as above. I saw this hoody on the sale rack and immediately thought to myself, "This is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I *must* own it."

Purchases I still wear: There's a couple ...
American Apparel t-shirt of guy pouring beer on his head -- $2
Wool sweater of flying owl -- $10 (Later saw it at a high end boutique retailing for $100+)
Green & brown checker Fink sweater vest -- $10

For sheer outrageousness, no one can beat Urban Outfitters!!
