Yes, that is made by Hermes for HKJC
What I'm wondering...Did Hermes just do the one run, or have there been a number of re-issues over the years? If so, I wonder if there's a way to determine which tie is from which run. You can see where I'm going with this... If the tie I just sold was manufactured years ago, and if there have been more production runs of the same pattern in the years since... Doesn't that inherently mean that this tie is more valuable/collectable than more recently produced ties? Is the serial number on the tie different for every single tie? Or is the same number assigned to every tie in that series? Or in just that particular run? A more direct way of asking the question...The serial number on this tie is 7722 OA. Are there any other ties in the world with this number? Is the number only meaningful when used in conjunction with the tie's name? (The Hong Kong Jockey Club). I'm just trying to determine if there could be a reason why this particular tie may in fact be more valuable, than one of the ties that could have been purchased today for a bit less (assuming one was a member of the club). I think the 7722 OA is the ref. number for that design.
I can't see any reason your tie is more valuable than the ties sold at the club.
Anyway, some guy want to buy it in higher price, that is fine.
I think it is called "price differentiation"

The simple answer is that the person who bought it is not a member of the HKJC - it's a fairly standard item, and I could get you as many as you want. Why they bought it, you'd have to ask them.

Not my concern*... I was just curious if the ties were produced more than once, and if earlier versions of the same ties might retain more value. *It's not my concern at all, as long as the winning bidder pays. He hasn't been very active. Hope he doesn't get cold feet after all this.

I have been looking for this one and unable to find it. Someone wanted it about 75 bucks more than I wanted it. Good for the seller and the buyer. Remember, there was someone else who wanted this tie a dollar or two less than the buyer!

A good part of auctions is "price discovery" many buyers feel uncofortable estimating true value. If others are paying X, then the items apparent value is X. Not perfect, but much better than blind bidding.
