I assume you're joking. In any case, the tie is nice enough that it can withstand some negative commentary without it being hurt. I think KBW's initial post wasn't really directed at this particular tie, per se, but more at the perceived clout of Hermes in general (and, I have to agree that in many cases Hermes is like De Beers in creating the sense that their items are superlative, rare, and to be coveted when this may not necessarily be the case). Nevertheless, probably his opinion should have been placed in a new thread in the general discussion forum about the relative merits of Hermes, as opposed to a sales thread, but in general I don't see the big deal or calls for his blood. In any case, if we start banning for giving out opinions about a listing, then half of the senior members here will probably be in the first group to go. Good luck with the auction and sale, Osprey Guy; you continue to have some pretty interesting items for sale (though none will probably surpass your vintage Versace goodies)!

Hermes neck wear, while I'm sure is excellent quality, is not about a high quality tie. It is about a fun, highly distinctive, whimsical design with a historical cache, that you can not find with any other brand.

If you don't like this, fine.

Also, Styleforum, while against conspicuous displays of wealth, and prominent tacky branding, I'm sure has no problem with a distinctive look or feel associated with a specific, well regarded designer or brand.

I'm with RunningBeagle on this one. I don't know about an outright ban, but posting in someone's B&S thread to sh*t on the item is a total douchebag move. Get some class, KBW. To rach2jlc - I'm not sure I've seen quite such an outright pan in a B&S posting from anyone, leave alone senior members, on this forum.

On the plus side, all this discussion has kept this tie at the top of the B&S forum for a few days now.

+1.

I'd like to add that Osprey Guy is a first rate seller. Bid with confidence.

+1 - Osprey Guy is a scholar and a gentleman and a first-rate seller -- excellent communication, excellent packaging, excellent products at excellent prices -- and a great guy, to boot!

I don't think he's gonna sell it for USD65. That'd be a steal.. literally! Nice tie, I'm a big fan of the Hermes animal prints.

Wow! I slept-in this morning (I was up until the wee hours preparing a new, upcoming listing)...and I log in to find this! Thanks to all of you for your very kind words and support. As Douglas pointed out...The good news is that the discussion has kept this nice tie at the top of the B&S! FYI- The bidding has started on the tie... Thank you! Dennis

One more +1 for Osprey Guy. I don't know him and have not bought anything from him, but I have drooled over a bunch of his for sale threads and always hope he will have more of those Talbott 7-folds when I have money to spend on one.
