supplements for recovery

Thread Starter
hi

i am trying to start picking up weights again.
however, i realised that my recovery rate is way off the chart (more than a week and i am still hurting).
what is the "in" supplement now to aid in muscle recovery?

thanks.

If you just started, don't worry about it. It takes a few weeks for your body to toughen up and get a better blood supply to those muscles. If you "need" supplements now, you'll probably never get anywhere.

Take it easy starting out. If you're sore for a week afterwards, you're pushing too hard.

take some fish oils afterwards to will give you some anti-inflammatory effects. Other than that, multivitamins and multiminerals.

Waxy Maize Starch immediately post workout to replenish glycogen. Followed by whey protein within 1/2 hour and a full meal of complete protein and complex carbs one hour later. Also, look into BCAAs...can sip on during training Scivation Xtend is popular (lemon flavour is best). As mentioned, multi and fish oil should be staples. I take 2 fish oil caps with every meal (10-12 caps per day)

^^Not necessarily - at the very least, there is something to be said about the placebo effect.

Placebo has nothing to do with recovery. Maybe psychological effects for the next workout, but even that's a stretch.

WMS, whey or BCAAs?

I'm curious to know why you think so.

He'll (Why) link some egghead study which has nothing to do with real athletes. He's the world's most incredible athlete with 2% bodyfat.

WMS and BCAAs BCAAs are in every complete protein source. Eat enough protein and you're fine. There's no need to have supplements. WMS is just high-glycemic carbs. You can eat Rice Chex and get the same effect.
