The best carabiner is no carabiner.

For my quickdraws I love Black Diamond Positrons on the hanger:

And BD Hotwires on the rope:

For top-roping I use Petzl Attache Screwlocks on the rope:

And I've been meaning to upgrade to a notchless screwgate like BD Positron Screwgates for the bolts:

I won't belay with anything other than a Petzl William Ball-Lock:

If you don't climb, don't use a carabiner.
A regular keychain/fob will suffice.

+1

I thought I was out of touch with today's jargon, and glad that climbing paraphernalia is still climbing paraphernalia. Yeah, you don't have to belay the keychain, no matter how heavy and no matter how high you wear it.

It could be handy to have one around, assuming you're also carrying rope and know how to tie a proper harness out of it. Otherwise it just seems like something that will stick out and scratch up the paint on my vehicles.

one more vote for: if you don't climb best biner is no biner

and then, even if you climb, imho it's better to avoid use for streetwear or you may end up looking like a poser

Note that they can be a handy stand-in for brass knuckles in certain jurisdictions.

wowza you guys are over analyzing the carabiner with the "If you dont... then dont wear x" argument, ive been wearing ones from target for years anytime I wear denim (never with anything more dressy of course) and I've never been called out as a 'poser'. If you had a carabiner with no keys on it, then yes, definetly an asshole, but dont pull out the YOU DONT HAVE A YACHT NO SPERRYS thing
