Home gyms

After several months of rehab for DDD and a herniated disc, the insurance finally cut me loose. I'm looking to supplement my basically Calisthenics workout with a home gym. We used commercial version of a Total gym in rehab. Has anyone tried one at home? The one I was looking at http://www.bayoufitness.com/Total-Tr...l-Trainers.htm gets great reviews online. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not an expert but I think a set of dumbbells would be better and cheaper.

Adjustable dumbbells would indeed be better and cheaper, and take up less space

I'm considering getting a set of Bodylastics because I don't have space for dumbells much less a weights set in my tiny condo. Anyone tried these?

Do not start swinging weight around if you have a herniated disc and/or DDD. This is one of the few times where I will recommend not doing free weights. There's just too much possibility for injury. My dad suffers from the same problems. Continue your calisthenics, and listen to your back. Make sure you do your rehab exercises. Join a gym if you want to do more. Get a qualified PT to walk you through some exercises that will avoid putting undue stress on your back (make sure you inform him of your condition).
