That's an oversimplification but not that far from the truth. Carbs cause an increase in blood insulin levels which increase the update of available fats.

Hey Woody,

Like previously stated, take a closer look at your diet. Maybe make an appointment with a dietitian for a nutritional analysis.

It seems that belly flab is the hardest fat to lose - it takes consistency in diet and exercise over the long haul. Tweak the diet, keep up the physical activity and get plenty of rest and in the end you will reach your fitness goals.

Good luck with your half-marathon!

There are some true humorists on this site. Syl, I almost peed my pants with that one.

Protein is insulinogenic as well.

Stop blaming insulin. It's just wrong.

Even in the total absence of insulin, fat is still stored through other means...if you don't believe me, go drink a big bottle of olive oil or eat a few sticks of butter per day withoout any carbs around them...

You need to start lifting weights. This is the only way to reduce belly fat. Diet is a good way to lose weight but keep in mind that when it comes to weight loss the order is First On -> Last off. Mostly people lose their belly flab last. Your best bet is to start weight training (don't worry, unless you east 3000 calories a day you won't gain weight). Also when it comes to training with weights you need to schedule rest time for muscel groups.

Water retention? Muscle mass? Diet? It might be that the only way to get rid of the remainder is surgery.
