I have several bottles of pappy, both the bourbon and the rye. I would consider parting with one, in part to help fund my shoe purchases!

I'm constantly amazed at the prices Pappy commands outside of Kentucky.

Any thoughts on the Forged Oak 15 year Orphan Barrel? I just got a bottle the other day and I like it a lot.

Only outside? Good luck getting a bottle in the Commonwealth without camping out overnight. In KY guys pay college kids to wait on these lines to get them bottles to flip on the secondary.

I know I've seen it. It's not like Pappy is cheap anywhere and KY is no exception, however outside KY it can get rather absurd. You can get it year round by the glass in Louisville if you know where to go. It will cost you, but it is available. Seems like elsewhere it's some kind of holy grail.

I think this is true anywhere. I don't think distiller's go out of their way to make sure the local establishments have their allocations at the expense of California, Florida, or Ohio for example. Pappy is absurdly priced everywhere, including Kentucky.

I might try that if someone ever asks me what Mezcal is. That's a good explanation that sounds almost believable to the people that don't know any better.

This is assuming the following book has been read but there could be a misunderstanding/misinterpretation of the drink mezcal in Huxley's A Brave New World?

Probably not as it's a long shot...
Cheers!

They did a single barrel (or two...not sure) for Blue Smoke. They also did a single barrel 12 for Crush that was best bottle of 12 I have ever had.

What year was it bottled?

I had it 2005 or so and it was on the menu there for a while. I'm not sure of the bottling date, but would guess 2003 or so.

interesting, thanks. I'd never heard of it before.. That said, that price is all sorts of ridiculous, but value is in the eye of the beholder..

Not bourbon, but anyone had a chance to try the Booker's Rye yet? Booker's is probably one of my top 5 readily available whiskies out there, and I really enjoy what they have been doing releasing the various "expressions" one at a time. I have a very good local B&M who usually texts me when the good stuff arrives, and sometimes holds bottles for me (he also sells at retail, but then, I've never experienced the gouging I have seen on the interwebs) since he knows I'm good for it; but he hasn't gotten a single bottle of the stuff yet.. Anyone come across it yet??
