Bourbon. - Page 176

I'm in Manhattan for the next few days if you guys are around and want to meet up. Total late notice since I wasn't planning much. Just in town visiting family but probably have some time Sunday/Monday if you're in the city.

NYIslander I probably won't make it out to Brooklyn hence if you happen to be on the island lemme know.

On the same note, I'll be in Manhattan 1/2-1/6, and would love some recommendations for good bourbon bars while I'm in town. I'll be with my girlfriend's family, but I can take a detour if need be, especially if said bar allows cigar smoking

The local store brought some of their warehouse stock out and I picked up these two.

Got this bottle of Federal Reserve from 1950 the other day. I have no plans to open but I really like the way it looks :D

Just cracked open La Brigantessa. Beautiful stuff - I truly love it. Big thanks to Rob and Courtney - I know this must have been a major PITA but was for a great cause and made a lot of people happy too. Cheers.

I really liked this one, though I heard the price has increased a lot recently.

Got some of this the other day… pretty damn tasty.

That's my favorite go-to bottle. Wish Ohio carried it. Very very good, especially for the price, but even price notwithstanding.

My brother (who gave it to me) lives in Cincinnati, but his friend gave it to him so my guess is he got it in Kentucky. From Cincy that's just crossing a bridge so I take it you must be somewhere further north. It's the first time I've had it and yes, I was quite pleased… surprisingly smooth for how strong it is and the flavor is just fantastic. Really nice stuff.

Yeah. Columbus. Though I went to graduate school on the border of Tennessee and Kentucky so all the "big" liquor stores were on my way. Didn't have any issues getting stuff like OWA or Sazerac or Eagle Rare, all three of which are either hard or impossible to get from OH liquor stores

What liquor stores would you recommend on the way from OH to TN?
The party source is always a good one. In Bellevue right across the river from Cincinnati. The liquor barn in Lexington is pretty good, their prices on Opus X cigars were dirt cheap last time I was in there and they have a ton of 4R picks which is nice. Liquor King in Corbin is a bit off the highway but not much more than 10 minutes and has a decent selection. Honestly my luck was best with the little liquor store on the Cumberland Gap Parkway east from 75 in Corbin. I don't remember what the sign says, but I got a couple good bottles there: OFBB, Hazmat ECBP, and always has ER (including 1.75L), Sazerac and OWA in stock.

The largest and most diversely stocked is probably the Party Source. It's right across the river in Bellevue, KY.

Getting a little jaded having to dig through the dozens upon dozens of bullshit, hipster, artisan-made, small batch 6 month old bourbon that everybody with a business plan seems to be flooding the market with these days..
