Bourbon. - Page 131

Horrible at notes. Obvi can tell they are of the same ilk. 12 is more refined probably due to the lower proof. I will try the 12 vs Lot B one of these days.

12 worth the price over owa? You like 12 better? Everybody always cite ow12 as a pappy or van winkle substitute but I highly doubt it

Actually about notes I'm bad at it too. I prize balance, integration, and complexity over anything and it's what I look for in everything. I'm not good at picking out obscure notes although I can pick out obvious ones

The price difference between OWA and 12 isn't much. I would want both at my disposal.

That's why I wanna try 12 vs Lot B. I will soon

Round 3 tonight. Battle of OBSOs. Flavors and nose are all similar but the one on the right is a bit punched up due to higher proof (52% vs 63%). I actually am trying to beside a pour of the OESO (55%). Can definitely taste the higher rye in OB. All 3 are different animals it's hard to pinpoint a favorite. I think I like the higher proof OB (Tippins) more than the lower, but it is close.

Btw. Thanks to NYI for the other bottle. I am looking forward to his thoughts on the Tippins bottles when he digs into them.

Was there a price increase on ECBP? The couple I bought were around $65ish after tax and ran into a few more at $70 today. Stores could be jacking on their own. Wouldn't surprise me. I thought I paid closer to $55 all in last time.

I just found a few at 44.99. I probably wouldn't have scooped them if they were as high as $60.

The only thing they have that is the same is age and wheat. The VW 12 is aged in a completely separate part of the warehouse. For a while people were trying to hype the Weller 12 by saying it was the VW 12 but they're not even in the same league, let alone the same ballpark.

.

Day one of being a Bourbon Tourist... Last year I met Paul Pogue (Of "Old Pogue - Master Select") Tomorrow I tour his facility in Mayesville KY. At dinner in a little Italian place (in Mayesville) I find a bottle of Pappy's 20 year. The GF & I enjoyed a shot each with our meal.

.

Actually we tour later today.

The Pappy's was delicious. Smooth toffee... Tiniest bit of Rye Bite. Very very good... But still a bit overrated in my book. I want to find a Pappy 15 year. I hear it's both cheaper and better.

We had a pull of Elijah Craig (barrel strength) back in the Hotel Room before retiring for the night.
