It looks like the pre historic cousin of a pitbull.

No.

Might be. Some guys do give their dogs roids. A friend of mine who breeds Pit Bulls, Bandogs and formerly Tosas is very dismissive of the "weak Presas."

Another friend of mine was involved in a "bump"--a short, informal fight (aka a "roll") between his 110-pound Tosa b#tch and a 135-pound Presa. The Tosa administered a very one-sided mauling to the Presa while they let the fight continue.

I have little first-hand experience with Presas. They certainly gained an evil reputation in the killing of Diane Alexis Whipple in San Francisco in January, 2001. However, some I've encountered seemed like pleasant, level-headed animals.

I'd imagine a dog on the juice would look like this:

Pretty standard looking Presa.

Many of the molossers exhibit a muscular physique with little to no exercise. I've seen pits that were couch potatoes yet looked like Bruce Lee on his best day.

The owner on the other hand ...

What was the story behind this dog? Wasn't it like a genetic mutation or disorder?

That is Big Wendy, a whippet with a myostatin gene mutation that causes tons of muscle growth.

If I had that dog I'd make him wear little purple shredded dog shorts and dye him green.

I'm pretty sure the dog in my avatar is taking some.

On their website, the other Presas looked a lot more normal, as did that one in his other photos. I am not sure the African-American bodybuilder is the owner/breeder. In all the puppy pix, the hands of a white man were holding the pups.

Certainly an outfit that would elicit my deepest suspicion: TEN litters since December, and they want top dollar: $3,000 for a puppy with full breeding rights and papers, which are with something called the "ICR," an outfit even I had never heard of--probably an registry akin to Michael Sottile's "FIC," not to be confused with the respectable FCI. In any event, Mr. Sanderson must have some superb salesmanship ability if he can crank out such a volume of pups and still command those prices. Surprising too that there would be such a demand for Presas. Tosas are often a hard sell.
