Hi, I've been reading some of the other threads on facial hair, and I'd like to ask my own question.
My dad had thick, dark facial hair, but not too much hair on his body (just "normal" in the armpits, on his legs, etc). He also sported long, dense muttonchop sideburns on his wedding day. His dad was the same way, as well as my grandfather on my mother's side.
The thing is, I'm 28 years old and I have little facial hair. Put it this way--I change my Mach 3 razor about every six weeks, lol. I get stubble on the chin and mustache area, and some on my neck below my chin, but it never gets long enough to grow into a beard. Now, I don't want a full beard, but I'd like sideburns, even just smaller ones that reach about halfway down my ear. I'm not going for the Gen. Ambrose Burnside look, lol. I have very dark, almost black hair, and the sideburn area only grows in very small patches. It's weird, because my 30 year old brother can grow a beard and sideburns--although he's strange, because even though we have the same dark hair, his facial hair grows in red, lol.
Lots of people have testified about Rogaine (minoxidil) working for sideburn growth, and lots have said Rogaine is useless for facial hair. Some say Rogaine is dangerous for facial application because it lowers blood pressure. Let's not even get into testosterone treatments, because none of the side effects are worth growing sideburns, at least not to me. And please, nobody tell me to shave ten times per day to make the hair "grow in thicker"--we all know the shady nature of THAT little fallacy
Rogaine or no? Among other goodies, dude down at the flea market sells stolen Rogaine for cheap, cheap, cheap. In another forum, I followed one guy's post for a long time. He reported just a very minimal growth on his sideburns after 8 months, applying twice a day. Others have reported unwanted hair growth on other parts of their bodies with little in the facial area.
Can anyone give a 100% honest report of whether minoxidil actually worked for them, and if it did, exactly how they used it? I'll live if I can't grow sideburns, but it's something I've sort of desired for a long time now. I think it would be a good look for me.
I need answers from those who know, please
Thanks,
Paul
