When I started college, I ate lunch and dinner making sure I ate from the four food groups:
Cheese for the milk group
Tomato and Lettuce for the vegies group
hamburger patty for the meat, and
fries and hamburger bun for the starches.

... um, burgers and fries are NOT healthy eating.

Of course there isn't . I myself am entering into my third year at OSU. Columbus is really an awesome town, the area around OSU has the strong small-town college feel, but surrounded by a much larger metropolitan area with anything you can think of. Congrats Connemara you'll have a great time. Hopefully see you around campus in the fall. (or High St. on the weekends? )

It's not that healthy, but not really unhealthy either. Bagel bites are cheap, delicious and quick though.

Pasta
Bananas
Lean beef (like 73-27)
Roma Tomatoes,Jalapenos,Cilantro,Lime and a Blender= amazing fresh pico/salsa
Humus can be made pretty cheap too, a bag of chickpeas is like 68 cents.
Potatoes
Jiffy Cornbread, 5 boxes for a buck or something ridiculously cheap like that.
Beans
Citrus, you can buy a 3-5 pound bag of oranges or grapefruit relatively cheap as far as fruits concerned.

go to church each week, they usually have free meals or people will invite you to their homes for lunch after.

If there are any clubs that don't cost to join, join them. A lot of clubs (at my college anyhow) planned gatherings that had free food, or were potluck style. A lot of times they'd meet places that gave the club free or cheap food.

Make friends with people in the food service industry. I get random pints of icecream from a girl I know who works at cold-stone, donuts from kids that work at Krispy Kreme, All sorts of free shit from a friend who knows the cooks at PF Changs.

Not all of these are healthy, but they are cheap and decent food options.

wtf... instead of wasting time acting like a dumpster diver and trying to score free food through religion and friends at mcDonald's, just buy a meal plan and spend your time going to school
