What does everyone think about hair like this? Too much for us real folks for everyday wear? Any recommendations on gel/pomade? Thinking of trying it out. Cheers.

James Hetfield can wear his hair any way he pleases. It works for him, but it wouldn't for me.

It looks pretty good on him. I think too many guys attempt this and it ends up looking lame, conformist, and sort of unimaginative. I see a lot of politicians and believe me-- I want to scream "just say no to hair gel!" almost every day.

This is a distinct Pat Riley-only zone.

I wear my hair like that. if I didn't, I'd have a jewfro that would make me eligible to be in a 70's movie.

i don't slick my hair, but I do use pomade. I part my hair on the side and have it cut just above my ears. i went from using the stuff i can get at walmart that's more pasty than greasy. For the last month or so, i've been using Dax short and neat (i think that's the name, it's their lightest pomade) and it works very well for me. I don't go for the greased look; i just use a little to keep my hair in place.

as for slicked hair, i think it really depends on if you can make it work for you, and i like the look if it fits.

I think a lot of guys with very curly hair look nice when the slick it back.

thanks - I like the look. it allows me to have really long hair (by my standards) and still look businesslike. my wife likes it, which is the important thing

Resounding yes for slicked back hair. I love it. Say what you will about conformist, unimaginative, blah blah blah, but men with those surfer looking haircuts look like pussies to me.

Killing and eating people also works for this guy.
As for me, I used to do it but my hair naturally flowed forward so I needed a lot of gel. Buzzcut now, could try it again - hm.
