It's not inferior to regular blade trimmers because it
is inferior. Let me explain this logic, which might seem insane: it's essentially a watered-down, more flexible beard trimmer. The fact that it is watered-down, and generally more comfortable to hold, is the reason why it's better to use on your body: you're less likely to fuck things up, especially in areas where you'd rather not have... a problem. It's not supposed to be used for close shaving, and it's shittier than a good beard trimmer which in my mind is a good thing, because the lack of efficiency allows for errors. Totally shaving down back and shoulder hair, but leaving the front of your body alone, is going to look awkward as hell. Missing an area on your back, which is difficult to reach even without a blade in your hand, is going to look awkward as hell. Having weird lines where you weren't exactly going straight with your razor is going to look awkward as hell. Slightly trimming the hair is going to result in none of the problems that come with shaving (looking strange when it's stubble, feeling itchy, the potential for ingrown hairs and cutting yourself and razor burn), you'll look like a man, and no one will be able to tell that you do a damn thing.
