I need some sizing help!!!  LET ME FIRST BE CLEAR, THIS IS NOT FOR BOAT SHOES!  smile.gif  So I'm considering two pairs of Quoddys:

1  Unlined Grizzly Boots in chromexcel leather.

2  Deck Chukkas in what looks chromexcel leather.

So I'm a 10 in McNairys with a smidge of room, 10 in OakStreet Bootmakers though I might be able to size down to 9.5, 10 in Clarks DBs with a smidge of room, 10.5 in Converse and I have a bit of wider foot.  I've done some research in this thread and I'm generally reading a 1/2 size up.  Socks aren't a concern though I generally prefer medium to standard/thinner socks.  I'm assuming I'd still be a 10.  Any and as many replies would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:  Also, I recently go some Yuketen Maine Guide Boots in a 10 and 9.5 and in both my heel slipped.  Loved them, but didn't fit.  The Quoddy's look more like OakStreets than Yuketens though.

Hi,

I've got a 10 in both the Yuketen Maine Guides and the Quoddy Grizzlys. The Yuketens fit very well, the Quoddys are a bit tight. Hope that helps.

Hi,

has anyone got experience with taking out the memory foam sole of the Quoddy Grizzly boots?

They're too tight on me, so I hope to gain more room. Plus they're just too soft for me. I don't like that feeling.

The new shoes showed up yesterday, and I swear these shoes (marked 11E) are much smaller than the 11D pair I sent in for repair. They're shorter (lengthwise) than every other pair of shoes I own and my toes seem like they'd rip through the front in no time. I can't wear them, yet the older pair I had, marked in a smaller size, fit fine in the length.

anyone have any advice on what to do here? I tried contacting Quoddy again and they ignored me

Do they ignore your e-mail or phone call?

I emailed again earlier today and got a response later this afternoon. They said they can stretch them for me, possible up a half size.

I think they might be a full size to small, though. She said that while the lasts haven't changed, other customers have also commented on shoes feeling smaller than in the past.

that's good. I bought a pair of Yuketen angler mocs that felt a little tight and bought a kit to stretch them, now they feel perfect.

I ordered from Quoddy 11D Maliseets and the shoe didn't fit well.  There was also a strange "pain" feeling on my left big toe.

Today I took them to a cobbler to see what he recommended.  He had a look and said that the left shoe doesn't fit well because it has been made on a last shaped for a right foot.  He showed me the left and right shoes side by side, and indeed it looked like the left shoe was like the right shoe.  They stuck a left rubber sole on this right-shaped shoe.  Also the eye-flaps of both shoes are the same, but the cobbler wasn't sure if this was true for all Maliseets, or if they had screwed that up too by sticking a right eye-flap on the left shoe moulded on a right last.

I can't believe Quoddy can mess up like this.

Return them and go with Rancourt... you can probably customize to be the same as what you ordered. smile.gif

Try to heat it up with a blow dryer then pull up, it should be the same as yuketen and oak street.... They are is there with some glue. Also don't worry about if you tear the foam... if you ever put the pad back in after they stretch just heat the pad and place the foam pads back together and they will be fine.
