As upr_ knows, I have been searching for a low-cut Chelsea boot for some time.  We had a brief look round together back in February in London’s Jermyn Street area.

I have always kept in mind my first ever pair of Chelsea boots from the mid-sixties which were made, I am sure, by a Northamptonshire  company selling the Wearra brand.  They were cut so low (as was often the fashion then) that the elastic gusset ran alongside the boot rather than today’s more usual ‘north-south’ style.  I have been searching in vain for anything like them.

You can imagine how my old heart leaped when I read about a new collaboration.  For Spring Summer 2016 old English firm Clarks and the Victoria and Albert Museum  team up to celebrate the 1960’s. Clarks claim that ‘Working closely with the V&A, we’ve updated 60s looks, patterns and prints to create a SS16 collection that says 'that was then, this is now'. ‘

I am wearing my new 'boots' today for the first time – in fact these are so low-cut they really constitute a slip-on shoe.  Not the best quality leather as you would expect, but very comfortable so far and they have that smooth, pared-back sixties look I have been after. (Other stuff: Missoni socks, Jasper Conran suit trousers)

Thanks mr monty, I can't understand why Bontoni's don't get more attention. I feel that they're right up there with the big boys.

Those look really interesting. I'm unfamiliar with this style, but I really like it. I may have to see about getting a pair for myself. Thanks for sharing here smile.gif
