well, tbh, i think i was brash there. i only have handled 2 pairs and worn/owned 1 pair, and they just didnt seem to be as high quality as i expected, but that really could be the difference between a lighter italian shoe and a heavier english styled spanish shoe. i guess its really a preference thing. no hate to sutor.

High end Italian shoe companies are not limited to making lighter weight footwear. My Sutors are just as heavy as my EGs and Lobbs.
It all depends on the styles that you prefer.

Hi Styleforum, this is my first post. Thanks for being awesome. I humbly submit these photos, fresh from the Allen Edmonds store:

Trousers: Brooks Brothers gray chalk stripe (Red Fleece)

Socks: Lorenzo Uomo

Shoes: Allen Edmonds Rutledge in walnut and brown

I ended up getting the browns. Ignore those Tevas in the last photo; they surely must belong to someone else.

Congratulations on your purchase! Not a bad way to start your membership. Some people will mock the socks. They're not my cup of tea but I think those particular ones are pretty neat.

Thanks; I know the socks are ridiculous, but I wouldn't post on SF if I couldn't handle getting mocked.

For those of us just getting into the game, Carmina represents a really good value. They're certainly the nicest looking and feeling shoes that I've ever worn. If you know of a better alternative at or around that price point, I'd absolutely love to hear about it.

For this price point it's also possible to get Alfred Sargent. Right now AFPOS is running a sale on a good number of AS models. I would recommend looking around on the forum a bit, although Carmina are nice there are other options out there.

Yea, I'm familiar with Alfred Sargent. I've been meaning to try out a pair of Moores actually.
