I just think they catch on my trousers too much and affect the drape.

Thanks Uncle Mac.  These are a splendid pair too - I've always thought shell makes most sense on a boot or a country brogue.  The "gunboat" is a fine natural home, and I love this colour.

I know what you mean; I suppose it depends both on the fabric of the socks, and how narrow your trousers fit.  But although I never cross my legs either, I do find good OTCs fall down less, and that with other socks, even sitting in a low chair can give an unprofessional flash of exposed ankle.  So if you did want to experiment, I would recommend Mazarin as first stop.  They're not particularly expensive, they're long enough to stay up even if (like me) you have big calves, and their cotton fil d'Ecosse is smooth and light enough not to catch, while strong enough to wear regularly.  I've some that I must have worn and washed fifty times that are still looking solid.  Even wool socks from Mazarin or Gammarelli are surprisingly light, and catch even less.  As Mac might say "try it, you will like it".

I wear wool socks all year long
in the hot humid summer weather, you spend most of your time in a/c
