Rock Your Socks- show your sock, shoe & pant combos - Page 756

Thanks guys - I accept the concept on an intellecutal level, I just haven't yet had mustered the personal confidence that I would manage the whole maintenance thing as well as others clearly have.  And as it happens, all the suede shoes I really like happen to be facking expensive, which provides a further disincentive to taking the plunge.  I did kind of fall in love with a pair of BB Peal double-monks in a mid-brown suede while shopping at lunch today, so who knows.  Would that be a good entry point for suede that would be considered of "good quality" or do I need to go higher?

Apoligies for the brief thread drift.  I'll post some socks tomorrow to make up for it.

I had the exact same thing, until I read that suede is sometimes even tougher than leather.

So i gave it a try and now its just elbow grease and a sunday afternoon spending some TLC on your suedes.

Especially when taken care of with proper products they always come out really clean and nice.

I think the problem is with nice shoes that they are always too expensive.

In case of a pair of G&G's we're talking half an average US monthly wage.

As for suede quality I think our own stitch and/or justin are the ones to answer that one, although they'll probably tell you to buy G&G ;)

Had to show off the Saint Crispins
Jhane Barnes socks
Tried to wear my pale green slacks but I need to lose another 5 pounds
So jeans are much more forgiving. They are a nice color.

I don't think average people buy G&G anyway.

I own 2 pair of G&G's, unfortunately one pair is way big and the other pair is a touch small. One of these days I'll get it right.

No I found them on ebay. A store in Jersey went out of business and was selling off their inventory. Unfortunately I discoverd them a little late and all the larger sizes were gone. This pair is size 9.5, I took a chance and they fit like a glove, a little snug. Hopefully they'll stretch out a bit.

Thanks. They are really nice shoes, got lucky on those. I have the G&G Wigmore boot size 11F. Thought I could make them work but they're way too big for me. I have them up for sale. The other pair is a MTO chukka boot, don't remeber the size. The toe is pointy and they fit very snug. I'll give them another try but they may end up for sale also. I'll post some photos later.
