What do you think of this sweater?

Victorinox sweater It's hard for me to tell how good a sweater will look until I put it on -- sometimes patterns just don't work well for me. But I liked the look of this at first blush. What do you think? I was thinking that it would be good for weekend wear with either jeans, cords, or flannels.

I really can't say without seeing a photo of you. Argyle does have a kind of "senior citizen" resonance for me--mostly because I have an uncle in that category who wears it often. But there's not much risk in ordering from Sierra. If you don't like the way it looks or fits, just return it.

I like zip-neck sweaters quite a bit, but agree with acole about the argyle.  Wear it, and people might start asking you if you want to have dinner at 4 o'clock.  I think it might look good under a tweed sports coat, however.

Thank you for talking me out of it. I think I might get a couple of the merino sweaters from Brooks when they go on sale. It would be $75 for 2 with the early bird. That's not a bad deal, and I like the zip neck merino wool for the winter.

I think you may want to wait for the opinions of the argyle lovers, who no doubt will point to GQ's and Andre 3000's endorsement as proof that the young and hip can wear it.

I'm young, but not hip. So, no dice.

everything victorinox runs big if you generally wear a large, buy a medium

I have not been crazy about the Brooks' Merino sweaters. they have not worn well. I would pass even at $35 per.

Even though you've already been talked out of it, I'm going to chime in. I think it's an either/or situation here. Either argyle or half zip. Both is too much, too busy, and a bit wrong -- though not in a good way.

Really? That's surprising. They seem to be unlikely to pill at least at first touch. I'll keep that in mind.

chorse, that is exactly my feeling - one is acceptable, both are too much

I like it, but I don't like Victorinox sizing. "Busy" isn't always bad, and I don't even find that particularly busy.

I do not like it because of the the pattern and the zipper.

I don't particularly like that pattern/color combo, but I think it's perfectly fine for anyone to wear Argyle. I have 3 argyle print sweaters in different styles and colors. I'm in highschool where god knows your appearance is under scrutiny, but I've never recieved negative comments about it, only compliments. I think it's a good option to have when you wanna get away from solid colors and boring stripes. Don't give up on argyle just yet, I'm sure you can find some patterns you'd like.
