A digital camera that fits in a pocket of SF-approved jeans?

As I've been (very happily) upgrading my wardrobe from loutish bagginess to a more fitted silhouette, I find myself at an impasse now that my old point-and-shoot digital camera has expired. I could take this camera with me inconspicuously in a pair of cargo shorts but have had to keep it out in my hand since I started wearing APC New Standards. I'd like to regain that ability to always have a camera on hand while still having both hands free (and a belt clip/holster -- no -- or jacket doesn't count because the weather isn't always cool enough for that extra layer), so I'm now in the market for a digital camera with decent macro and low-light capabilities (down to f2.8 or better if at all possible -- just caught wind of the new Leica/Panasonic shooting at 2.0) that's pocketable even in the small pockets of slim-fitting jeans.

Looking at the Canon ELPH series to start since I know Canon's p&s lines the best. I shoot SLR with a Nikon though haven't been enthusiastic about their p&s offerings.

Not really a denim question, I know. But it seems that this forum is the most likely place to find someone who has already answered the question for themselves. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Naww, you want super keen camera fades, complete with marks left by the lens and flash. You're a photographer and the world should know it.

I have trouble sticking a business card into my New Standards, and I don't even wear them that tight.

So good luck, I really mean it.

See previous note about jacket. Not all of us are blessed to be in temperate weather year-round.

No thanks on the manbag, and one of my favorite subjects is impromptu pictures of my significant other.

Back pocket works. Seriously. Any ideas? When I was carrying a Blackberry, that's where I put it, so I'm okay with carrying electronics there.

Size down one less and make your jeans practical, in the torso area. Then start looking at places like here, spend some time on site like CNET and such too learning about the right camera for you. The worst purchase you can have is the wrong one. http://www.consumersearch.com/www/ph...gital-cameras/

Carry it in your back pocket or start wearing shirts with pockets. I have a hard time fitting things in the front pockets of my jeans, I couldn't imagine fitting even the thinnest camera in there. I don't carry my camera in my back pocket because I guarantee I'd forget it was there and I'd sit on it. When I'm not wearing a shirt with a pocket and I need to take my camera, I just use the wrist strap and deal with it. I live in Florida so a jacket isn't really an option right now, just like for you.

I swear by the Cannon SD1000. I walked all over Budapest with that mf in the front pocket of my New Standards (sized down 2!). It's durable, high quality and looks great IMO.

I have the SD 1100 and it is amazing. Kind of pricy at the moment, and not quite as compact as the 1000, but god I love this thing.

Try one of the Panasonic Lumix cameras, if you can get your hands on one. Great picture-quality, incredible lenses (Leica) and really easy to use.
