Thanks, I'm only 28, so I really need the sleekness of the U-last if I were going to wear a penny-loafer. Is that a double sole?

More important than age is cultural milieu...do you spend more time at the country club or the cocktail bar?

Good point. To be honest, I just really appreciate well-made shoes, mostly English. For some reason, I have a bad feeling about the Mantellassis; the Vass will be much more versatile, provided that they look nice (i know, i know; it's a personal decision)

P.S. Good use of milieu

The Vass look great, I just don't do the whole penny loafer thing, no matter how fashionably chiseled the toe. Too preppy for me.

I totally relate to the craving for English (or Hungarian) quality. What about a Vass monk?

Thx. I'm wary of the whole penny-loafer thing as well. Never thought I'd even consider a pair. As for the monk, I think I've reached my maximum...BTW, I'' be moving to Florida: don't they all wear penny loafers down there?

A pair of designer Flip-Flops would be nice, too On a serious note: A loafer is a more difficult fit. Pledge, unless you are absolutely sure about the fit of the U-Last I wouldn't place an order. On your pic, this is a double sole.

Thanks for the heads-up fritzl.

They're actually selling on ebay for 599 (I believe).

I had a pair of pennies on the buda last so it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, but I personally think the loafer is not Vass' strength, at least in my opinion.

I might advise to pay a bit more and look into the st. Crispin's.
