Shaking Hands With Women...

When does one shake hands with women? I guess it depends on the occasion?

Club:?
Office / Coworker:?
Mall:?
Neighbor:?
Neighbor's wife:?
Restarant:?
Wedding Reception:?

You get the idea.

Somewhere along the way I picked up the rule of - only shake a woman's hand if she extends it to you...

That seems a little stuffy but I think I read that in a book of etiquette.

You should shake a woman's hand as a formal greeting.

Or as a greeting in a professional environment.

What I've noticed in my professional life is that when I first meet them I shake their hand and then at the end of that meeting or in the following encounters when they have come to love me it is either a kiss on each cheek or I will shake her hand but take my other hand and place it on top of hers also.

I follow this rule, except in business settings.

Usually happy with Net 30.
If I work hard enough I can get Net 60 now and then.

I shake hands when it doesnt seem alright to kiss them.

Youre saying when to shake hands as opposed to not do anything but say hi?

Maybe its just me, but i always either shake hands or go for the cheeks

I tend to shake a girl's hand when I initially meet them in most circumstances, but change it up a bit. In business, it's a normal, firm handshake. If it is a potential friend, acquaintance, or playtoy, I'll still shake hands, but I'll give a softer shake while slightly turning their hand up, giving a big smile, and I think I tend to tilt my head a bit. Seems to work well.

Most times meeting women socially i shake hands a little bit longer than what is the norm, have good eye contact and a bright smile. I rarely follow etiquette; I am a sociopath.

I only shake hands with a women if she offers. I know this is a dated concept but I am not socially adept and must rely on this type of rule when first meeting people.
