Caution: purchasing armani suits ebay

Hi Folks, Just to give you a friendly advise on buying Armani Collezioni suits on Ebay. Simply to put .. Do not buy them. I bought one from the seller (from germany), and the suit that I recieved was fake. In fact, most all Armani Collezioni suits on Ebay that are being sold by German sellers are fake articles IMHO (pic tells it all.). How do I know this? Well... read the following: 1. Stiching: design house like Armani, Zegna, Canali, even Hugo Boss suits have all fine stiching. The suit i got on ebay had such a poor stichings. The stiching of the inside jacket where the jacket's outter fabric and lineing meets, should be hidden, so that the seam should create seamless connection between the fabric and the lineing. My made to measure Armani Collezioni suits from boutique shop and Hugo Boss suits are all like this. But the suit i got from ebay had VISIBLE stitching which looks not only cheap, but also looks unskilled finish. Inside Armani pants, on the very top of the pants, there is stiching holding inner supportive fabric and outer fabric that goes around the pants (the waist..). The stiching of that seam should be straight .. not zig-zag or any other.. Armani does not stich like that in that area. I have confirmed this with my Armani Assoc. The zipper. All rather new Armani Collezioni Dress pants (inc. suit pants) should say "A2" on the zipper. The suit that I recieved from ebay seller had something else on it.. There are many other flows I can point out.. but these are the eaist ones to detect. I know its tempting to buy luxery pieces on the ebay .. but .. when things are this cheap .. you have to wonder .. My seller has 100% + feedback .. But when you read his feedbacks .. people give him + feedback as long as they recieved product in time or suits does not have NOTICEBLE MAJOR FLOWS. I think most of people who have bought these suits never have bought real Armani Collezioni suits from the boutique. Otherwise .. they would returned the item like me and ask for refuned..lost $100 on shipping Armani Collezioni suits create the drape and soft curves that no other designer house can .. But the suit I got fitted like paper bag.

I'm kind of shocked that someone would go through the trouble of creating an Armani Collezione knock-off. But I guess people blinded by label-lust would go for it.

Armani is probably the single most recognized name in fashion - of course people will knock it off. For peace of mind, buy from Yoox or Bluefly, even if the prices are a little higher.

I know...but an entire Collezione suit? Seems like too much time and effort to go through

effort? What effort? All you need to do is put labels on a suit then sell it for $600 USD. BTW.. I see some Brioni and Kiton stuff too on ebay .. for mere $500-$800USD .. make me chuckle .. Fabrics alone, you cannot make those suits under that price.

While I can believe that Collezione fakes are out there, I highly doubt there are any Brioni or Kiton fakes.

Why not? I don't know the actual cost of making a cheap suit, but they can be had for $100 (including a shirt and tie and alterations) at any ghetto shop, and lots of places in the LA garment district had regular 2 for $150 sales. On Ebay, these suits cost about $400. Given the fixed costs (Ebay listing and final price fees), the profit margins are at very least competitive with fake Prada shirts for that go for $70 a pop. Plus, suits are, ironically, easier to fake, at least for purposes of pictures on Ebay. A suit is a suit is a suit - especially a standard black, navy or charcoal one. It's pretty difficult to distinguish a fake without very detailed pictures or being able to inspect it in person, and even then, the clues are more subtle.

If you never own authentic Brioni or Kiton suits before .. how would you know what is real Brioni or Kiton. The thing is, you do not need to make suit look like authentic item, all they have to do is to convince the consumer (by putting labels).

There are very noticiable differences, and you don't need to own a Brioni to walk into the Brioni store and just check them out. Personally, I think that anyone who would lay $4K + for a suit without having *any* idea of what makes them so much better, even if just by asking the salesman, is in all likelhood a huge wanker. It's like those executive types I used to see in NYC and LA laying down big bucks for big name wines and liquors just to impress. It was an ugly thing. They'd prance about in expensive suits and $200 haircuts, lording it over the place - I actually heard one snap his fingers at the waiter for faster service. A few of my British friends call their London counterparts "City Boys". Is that accurate Kalra?

Sounds right. London City is where all the finance and law firms are located. I can't stand these guys either. There's nothing worst than when such fine, minor details go unappriciated by the owner; like in Kiton suits and Petrus wines.

Ah the good ol' City Boys, I am very impressed by your worldly knowledge. (Although we do know of the New York Stockbroker here in London). I would say that they are similar, but replace Kiton with Gieves & Hawkes and Kilgour French Stanbury, and you've got it. Though the major difference is that they are not as wealthy as their American counterparts are, as land values are so high in the square mile (another name for city). However, they are not all poor. They are a bit metal though, they actually walk around with their briefcase inverted into the air (no joke), and still wear bowler hats. Oh the City Boys. Luckily I am not one of them, my offices are officialy in Bank, (a place not a bank)

For whatever it's worth, I've purchased Armani Collezioni suits from German eBay sellers, and had no problems whatsoever except with respect to sizing. (Apparently, some of them think a US size 40 is an EU size 52.) Bear in mind that there are an enormous number of Armani Collezioni suits out there, cut in different styles and with different fabrics for different markets. There's huge differences in style from market to market (not to mention price, though the price point is inflated across the globe). Even in the U.S., for instance, you will discover that Saks sells a considerably different Armani Collezioni suit than does, say, Barneys. This means that comparing one Armani suit to another to determine whether one is fake is futile. That's particularly the case with respect to things like the current zipper markings, given that the suits being sold on eBay may be from several seasons ago. I've never seen a fake Armani Collezioni suit in all my travels, or on eBay. The only fake Armani suits I've seen on eBay are awful Emporio Armani knockoffs that seem to originate from Bulgaria or Greece.
