Where are yall coming up with these figures? In Houston, used DSLR's rarely if ever cross under the $400.00 mark. Even film SLR's average between 100-250 on our craigslist, and that's without an array of accessories.

I like the Rebel Xti. Takes some very nice pics. Had a NikonD100 but it had shutter failure issues so its a paperweight right now.

At 3-4 years old with moderate use, that camera could be pretty close to its end. The accessories included are near worthless.

XT / Digital N bodies on KEH.com are $330-ish. An 18-55 is $109. And this is from KEH which is already selling things at a premium. $450 is unjustifiable.

The Rebel XS is coming on the market at $700 with lens or there are plenty of other worthy and cheaper DSLRs as well. I've always had a soft spot for the Pentax DSLRs.

^ That and the increasing accessibility of entry-level DSLRs has not been kind to early adopters; those who paid close to a grand a few years ago for their years get hit the most by depreciation (without realizing it). Thus CL prices don't really reflect market prices, or for that matter, eBay prices.

I've seen $350 before, but that never includes a lense. To be honest, If I wasn't a Canon fan, I would have jumped on the Sony bandwagon, due to their vast array of features....however they tend to be marred by "supposed" poor noise at high ISO. On another note, $400 doesn't seem too high, considering most decent compacts retail between $200-$300, and most prosumer zooms fall in the $300-$400 category (Ebay is a different story).

Whacked....you raise a good point about early adopters, I never even considered that. Entry level DSLR's (A200's, Rebels, D-40's) going between $400-500 seem be the norm on CL.
