Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 65

did it get darker? or is it just the lighting

anywho i really dig it, looks less 'out there' than the rick owens leathers that i've seen, yet still modern looking.

No thats just the light or lack there of. I was standing in the shade. Washing it made it lighter, actually.

So for the money, would you recommend it as a first leather jacket? I'm looking for a late/fall spring jacket.
Also, how exactly did you wash/dry it? I'll probably want to do that with any one I get, but don't particularly wan to mess it up

1) fill tub with luke-warm or cool water. I recommend cool.

2) soak jacket and gently massage the leather for 3-5 minutes.

3) gently squeeze the excess water out, do not twist as this may damage the leather.

4) hang on a large wooden hanger for 4-7 days.

Did the jacket shrink at all after you soaked it?

Yes, about 1 size at least. I was considering taking it to a tailor before I soaked it because it was a bit large for my standards. Now it fits me like it was cut to my specifications.

Going to pester you once more =] (thanks for all the help, by the way). Should I size up? Their xs seems to match my measurements the closest, but if it's going to shrink, I guess I should go small?

Go based on the measurements. They are off by a few cm's but otherwise spot on. Its fucking hot in NY (90+) and I hung my jacket in my garage which isn't air conditioned so it was even hotter, that definitely accounted for shrinkage. I have heard of others that hung it in a cool or room temp and experience very little to no shrinkage.

not the best ive seen/owned but just inquiring if anyone has any experience with Vince's jacket below:

picked it up from gilt , decent price, ive been wanting a sort of moto leather jacket in black for awhile and this fits the bill visually, but im not sure on the make/quality. i like vince in general but dont know their leather stuff.

Last year I bought a BS101 copy of Dior's famous four pocket jacket. I've already had to replace all the buttons due to shotty sewing. The leather is still keeping up, if faded in some areas. Over-all, pretty good for the money. But if you look around, you can find something epic for $400, and it'll last you a lifetime, not a year.

what is the label name and amount you paid?

half the point of soaking a jacket is hang-drying it so that it gets some awesome drape
